What do the Psalms have to say about faith?

While I would assume most people would claim that the Psalms contain a great deal of knoweldge about faith… I would ask exactly what do they teach?

Recent studies on the Psalms often take the view that a historical context cannot be overlaid upon an individual psalm. Since the historical situation cannot be known, the possible social context often will take center stage. Henceforth, each psalm is explored in the context of worship and/or its theological significance. While I do believe these aspects are important, doesn’t removing the historical context of a psalm detract from what that Psalm teaches us about faith?

Over the next few weeks I will attempt to explore this theory.

Any and all thoughts are welcome.
